Mat-based Classes

Stretchtastic: This class is designed for everyone.  As life progresses, we lose flexibility and our posture and agility decrease significantly.  Through a series of stretches, addressing your muscles and fascia, from your head to your toes, we will achieve maximal movement in your joints and decrease your likelihood for injury, disease and prevent postural changes.

Pilates Matwork: A series of Joseph H. Pilates exercises that are designed to elongate and strengthen, improving muscle elasticity and joint mobility.   During this series, the emphasis is on building the mind-body connection through concentration on breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and precise body movement.

Pre and Post Natal Fusion Workout: This class was created for mommies from pregnancy and beyond.  It was developed by a physical therapist as a safe and effective way to strengthen muscles necesary in labor and delivery as well as to regain pre-baby bodies.  The class combines breath-wrok into a muscle-toning, heart-pumping, spine lengthening, core-strengthening and mind-cleansing routine utilizing pilates and yoga principles. 

Hot Mama (Postnatal) Pilates: Every new mom wants to get her pre-baby body back!  Pilates will help you safely regain abdominal tone, strengthen muscles that were weakened by pregnancy, delivery and altered life-style, and lengthen muscles that have tightened due to pregnancy and the new demands of motherhood.  The ultimate goal is to decrease body mass, increase tone and feel fabulous about your new fit self.

Triple Threat: Intense combination of yoga, pilates and physioball exercises designed to tone your entire body, especially the problem areas!  You may groan, sweat, and cry—but you will absolutely love the flattened abdominals, the lifted gluteals, the “Michele Obama” arms, and the other flattering results! 

Pilates Machine-based Classes

Pilates Circuit: This class utilizes a unique form of spring resistance to increase the intensity of pilates mat based exercises.  The reformer, cadillac, wunda chair and barrel increase the toning capacity of pilates, improve posture, strengthen the core, aid in lengthening the muscles further, and challenge body awareness.

Reformer Prenatal Pilates: The reformer enhances the benefits mentioned in the prenatal mat classes.  During pregnancy, the body changes daily.  As your baby grows, your body adapts.  These adaptations create stress on your spinal curvatures and the surrounding joints. Each exercise on the reformer focuses on ideal alignment.  Once ideal alignment is achieved, you can strengthen the periphery effectively and efficiently as the carriage allows controlled movement through full motion.  This machine and the exercises on this machine are highly adaptable to the changes of pregnancy, making exercising during this time as comfortable as possible.

Classes at Embodyment are designed to be extremely personalized. We want to address your individual needs, modifying and correcting postures throughout the class to enhance your overall experience.
